A multi-function travel tool, headlamp, or flashlight make great gifts for the dad who likes to travel. The multi-function travel tool comes in handy if dad needs to open a beer or fix something. A headlamp or flashlight are also useful for looking for things in one’s backpack, if he wants to stay up later than others and needs some light, or in the rare event of a power outage.

If your family wants to travel with only carry-on luggage, then dad may need to up his clothing game for travel. Consider buying dad some Merino wool clothing. It’s expensive, but ideal for travel because it is breathable and resists odor absorbtion. Personally, I started with merino wool socks, and then slowly added t-shirts, and underwear to the mix.

Merino wool products can be reworn without washing, which means you can pack less clothing for your trip and wash when you return home. The fabric also dries quickly in case you do sink laundry on vacation.

For the dad you likes to wear baseball caps, a foldable baseball cap will pack up compactly for travel. If dad’s travel plans involve sunny destinations, it might be time to get him a widebrim hat.

A Slim Wallet to Detour Pickpockets

A slim, front pocket wallet means dad carries only what he needs, but more importantly, his walled can fit in his front pocket. Keeping his wallet in his front pocket is safer than his back pocket make it harder for pickpocket theft. If dad wants to keep more cash hidden, he might also like a a travel belt.

Entertainment for Dad

Dad might need some entertainment while traveling. Consider getting dad ear buds or headphones to listen to his favorite podcast, an Amazon Kindle to read a new crime novel, or a Nintendo Switch. Dad might also like a Cocoon Grid-IT! organizer to organize his new and existing cords and a powerbank to keep his devices charged..

Just because the TSA lets you bring liquids up to 3 ounces, doesn’t mean you or dad needs 3 ounces of shampoo or other liquids. Dad will appreciate bringing just what he needs in 1 and 2 ounce containers and he is probably could use a new toiletry bag, like this roll-up bag.

Cameras for Adventure

Dad might appreciate an AKASO Brave 4 Pro action camera — especially, if he would love one but doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on one. Another good camera choice is a Sony Cyber-Shot, which is lightweigt and has a better zoom than his phone’s camera.

Depending on what kind of travel dad has planned, a good set of binoculars that travel well will help him see all kinds of wildlife better. If his travels involve stargazing, then a red light flashlight will be appreciated. For road trip travel that involves flying to the destination, a collapsible cooler will come in handy. Finally, if dad just needs to sleep on the plane, get him a memory foam travel pillow and a cozy travel blanket.
